Cameron Sutton

Cornerback, Tennessee

 5’11”, 186 lbs

Overview

By Nolan Fleming

You may not have heard about Cam Sutton as much as some of the other corners in this draft, and that is because quarterbacks rarely test his side of the field. His talent is on par with the top corners in the college game, which is why offenses often choose to stay away from him all together.

His Strengths

Sutton is an excellent cover corner that thrives in man-to-man press coverage. His preparation is clear, as we consistently see him reading and reacting to plays at lightning speed. Sutton possesses excellent ball skills and has shown the ability to tackle in the open field. He has fluid hips and and is very smooth out of his breaks. Sutton has also shown the speed to recover when he is initially beat in coverage.

Areas of Improvement

Sutton has a lean frame, which he could benefit from adding weight to. At times Sutton’s aggressiveness can lead to him getting beat by double moves. Sutton did also suffer an injury this season that caused him to miss six games. However, this does not seem to be a huge issue as he was healthy for the last four games of the season. The six games he missed were the first he has missed due to injury in his career.
