Jourdan Lewis, Cornerback, Michigan,’5’10”, 186 lbs

Analysis By Nolan Fleming

Overview

Jourdan Lewis is the kind of player any organization would love to have. Lewis is a versatile cornerback that shows great physicality against the run. He displays excellent effort and brings up the energy level of the defense. Lewis does lack desired size, but his speed and nastiness make him an intriguing prospect. In addition, Lewis needs to improve on getting his head back to the quarterback and not using his hands downfield in man coverage.

His Strengths

Lewis showed versatility at Michigan, which will be valuable when looking to get on the field in the NFL. He showed prowess covering receivers both outside and in the slot. Many feel Lewis best projects as primarily a zone-coverage corner at the next level, but he also has experience in press man coverage. Lewis sports great speed to go along with his vibrant energy and physicality. Lewis demonstrates an admirable willingness to tackle and plays the ball well in the air.

Areas of Improvement

Lewis does not have the ideal size organizations will look for. At times, Louis struggles to find the ball when in coverage downfield. He tends to use hands too much, which could lead to an excess of penalties at the next level.
